The heart of the Bald Head Island Club is undoubtedly the golf course. The course was designed by George Cobb and opened for play in 1974. This beautiful private golf course in North Carolina was recently restored by Tim Cate, who breathed new life into the tired layout, making it much more natural looking and challenging.
The golf course, a quick drive and ferry from Wilmington, NC, is so aesthetically pleasing now that it’s almost a completely different course. In addition to new Miniverde greens, new bunkers and a new irrigation system, Cate transformed 35 acres of rough into sandy areas with native grasses.
Come experience the nature that abounds on the golf course. Bald Head is the northernmost semitropical island to grow sabal palms naturally and it’s not rare to see fox, heron, egrets, ospreys or even a gator walking by!
